Albert Paul Fountain was born on October 27, 1924 the son of Robert L. Fountain, Sr. and Lulu V. Kolepfer Fountain at Sabetha, Kansas.
Al grew up in the Sabetha area and graduated from Sabetha High School as salutatorian on May of 1942. Al served one year in pre-med at Kansas University before being drafter before World War II.
During World War II Albert served in the United States Army and was in various posts in the United States and was finally on Leyte Island in the Philippines as a supply NCO; no combat although there was still fighting on upper end of the island. After the war he attended school at Colorado University at Bolder, Colorado.
Al then returned to Sabetha and worked with his father for several years, then as professional sales rep. for Parke Davis and Company. He then passed Florida State Board as well as Colorado and Kansas reciprocation, worked as staff and later head pharmacist for Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. Spend time with college friend in Utah and reciprocated there as well.
Final board exam was in California and was hired by a large retail drug chain where he worked for 20 years. Albert was inducted into a pharmacy honorary in Boulder, Colorado Rho Chi (RX) while he was in college. Albert was united in marriage to Marjorie C. Asher in Sabetha on May 11, 1952. They built their home in Sabetha before they started moving to different states for employment.
Albert died on June 7, 2007 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha at the age of 82.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert L. Fountain, Jr. a few days before his 80th birthday.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Fountain of Sabetha.
Memorial services will be Thursday, June 21, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the Sabetha High Rise community room. The inurnment will be at a later date and time. Military honors will be conducted by the Sabetha V.F. W. Post #7285.
Memorial contribution may be made to the A.S.P.C.A. (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
