Alicia “Lisa” I. Griffith, 62, of Bern, Kansas, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, December 16, 2024, with her family by her side.
Lisa was born on October 21, 1962, in Onaga, Kansas, to James and Alice (Wege) Parks. She was one of seven children born to this union. Lisa graduated from Marysville High School in Marysville, Kansas.
On November 7, 1981, Lisa married Jim Griffith at Friedens United Church of Christ near Bern. They built a home on their family farm near Bern, where they raised their three children. The family farm was important to Lisa, and she enjoyed helping Jim to keep the farming operation running smoothly. For several years, Lisa also ran a daycare, and she also worked as a paraprofessional for the Bern school district.
One of Lisa’s hobbies was watching and feeding hummingbirds, as well as taking care of her cats. Lisa was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family and enjoyed every moment spent with them. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing with her family and friends, and she always managed to catch the biggest fish! Her most treasured pastime was spending time with her ten grandchildren, who gave her the beloved title of “Mimi.” Her grandchildren were her world, her pride and joy, and she would do absolutely anything for them.
Anyone who knew Lisa knew her as the life of the party. She had a beautiful smile, and her laugh was contagious. She was always so full of life and was a selfless person who would do anything for anyone.
Lisa was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Connie Kabriel.
Lisa is survived by her husband, Jim Griffith of Bern; her son, Chris (Bethany) Griffith of Seneca, Kansas; her two daughters, Holly (Tony) Caskey and Heather (Chad) Irby both of Topeka, Kansas; her ten grandchildren, Alyssa and Weston Griffith; Colt, Ryder, and Wyatt Caskey; Jaedin, Rilee, Kaedence, Paitynn, and Paxton Irby; her two great-grandchildren, Sergio and Gianna Irby; and her five siblings, Linda (Nick) Schmitz of Beattie, Kansas; Frankie Grund of Marysville, Kansas; Doug Parks of Belleville, Kansas; Tina (Kay) Parks of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Stacy (Ron) Wetter of Junction City, Kansas.
A Celebration of Life and Remembrance Service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Bern Community Building in Bern, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas, sent in care of Popkess Memorial Chapel, 814 Castle, Seneca, Kansas 66538.
