Cynthia Kay (Meyer) Strahm, 64, of Sabetha, Kansas passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, December 12, 2024, after a brief and graceful battle with cancer. Her last days were spent with her husband and best friend, Rod, by her side as well as her three beloved children.
Cynthia was born on July 14, 1960, in Sabetha. She was the sixth child of nine children born to Eli Meyer, Jr. and Lois (Steiner) Meyer. She grew up in rural Sabetha and attended school in Bern, Kansas. She graduated from Bern High School in the class of 1978. On October 5, 1980, Cynthia married Rod Strahm in Sabetha.
Cynthia and Rod cultivated a beautiful, nurturing life on their farm north of Sabetha, where they lovingly raised their three children. Cynthia helped Rod on the farm and worked several part-time jobs throughout the years. But the job that she loved and treasured the most was raising her three children, as a stay-at-home mom. It was in this role that Cynthia was able to pour all her energy and love into her family and home.
Cynthia was a longtime member of Christ’s family and was a devoted member of her church community at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. Cynthia was a blessing to her family, church, and beloved community. She was always planning the next get-together, reunion, or special event, and her top priority was making sure that everyone was well-fed. Even just two weeks ago, Cynthia ensured that her family was together and well-fed, when she hosted a delicious, catered Thanksgiving dinner. It was a special day filled with family time, love, and memories.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers-in-law, Dale Strahm and Gordon Huber.
Cynthia is survived by her husband, Rod, at their home in Sabetha; her son, Vance (Jaki) Strahm of Kansas City, Missouri; her two daughters, Brenna (Brian) Hall of Manhattan, Kansas, and Laura (Tory) Fisher of Olathe, Kansas; her six precious grandchildren, Aubree Strahm, Easton Hall, Carson Hall, Drake Hall, Owen Fisher, and Delaney Fisher; her six sisters, Shelby Strahm, Nancy (Galen) Rokey, and Jana (Faron) Strahm all of Sabetha, Sharlyn Huber of Fraser, Colorado, Marcel (Eric) Huber of Aurora, Colorado, and Lanette Meyer of Thornton, Colorado; her two brothers, Richard (Joni) Meyer of Sabetha and Steve (Kaye) Meyer of Bern; as well as countless cousins, nieces and nephews, and other extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha. The funeral service will be live-streamed at https://northridgenetwork.org/sabetha-watch-live and will also, be available for viewing after the funeral service is concluded. Prior to the service, a visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. A private family interment will be held at the Albany Cemetery, north of Sabetha. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Nemaha County Home Health & Hospice, NorthRidge Missions, or the donor’s choice, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
