Daniel “Dan” Moritz Hartung, 70, of Sabetha, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at his home with his wife, Kim, by his side.
Daniel was born on March 27, 1954, in Pawnee City, Nebraska to John W. Hartung and Delores A. (Heuppelsheuser) Hartung.
Daniel was previously married and was blessed with one son, Nathan, and two daughters, Heather and Farren. This marriage ended in divorce. On May 19, 2007, Daniel married Kimberly VanOsdol in Robinson, Kansas. They would have celebrated 18 years of marriage this year.
Daniel’s hobbies included working on vehicles and small engines, fishing, hunting, tinkering around, and 4-wheel riding. During his younger years, Daniel enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles. He also enjoyed collecting shot glasses, lighters, and die-cast cars, motorcycles and tractors.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Max Hartung, Harlan Hartung, and Doris Gillis; his in-laws, and his ex-wife, Judith Knowles.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Kim and his dog, Chewy of Sabetha; his three daughters, Heather Hartung and significant other, Jason Williamson of Table Rock, Nebraska, Farren Hartung and significant other, Terrance Whiting of Beatrice, Nebraska, and Ashlee Mahoney of Omaha, Nebraska; his son, Nathan Hartung of Beatrice, Nebraska; his eight grandchildren, Trenton Williamson, Jace Williamson, Eliana Human, Jasiah Human, Danidy Whiting, Haley Whiting, Nikolas Miller, and Maggie Miller; his two sisters, Darlene (Henry, Jr.) Rohlmeier and Hazel Lear; his nieces and nephews; his great nieces and nephews; and his friends.
Per Daniel’s request, he was cremated. Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.
