Doris May Harvey, 70, of Centralia, KS, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 following a brief illness.
Doris was born April 11, 1939 at Atchison, KS to William Wilcox and Ethel Chaffin Wilcox. She attended school in Atchison and graduated from Nortonville High School in Nortonville, KS.
Doris worked as a cook at the Eastridge Care Home in Centralia and she helped anyone whom she could.
Doris lived in Leavenworth until 1985 when she moved to Centralia, KS. She married Conner Harvey of Centralia, he survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Richard Chmidling JR., Timothy Chmidling, Robert Chmidling, and William Chmidling all of Leavenworth, KS; two daughters, Deborah Chmidling and Darlene Dean both of Leavenworth, KS; two brothers, Albert Wilcox of Muscotah, KS and William Wilcox of Nortonville, KS; and three sisters, Valerie Robinson, Nortonville, KS Carroll Mair, Nortonville, KS and Beverly Ricketts of Cummings, KS. Doris is also survived by seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Alva Wilcox, a sister Dorothy Presley and one son, Thomas Chmidling.
Funeral Services will be Monday August 10, 2009 at 10:00 am at the Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home in Centralia, KS. Burial will be in the Centralia Cemetery at Centralia, KS. Memorials are being left to the Doris Harvey Memorial fund and can be sent in care of the Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home, Centralia, KS.
She will lie in state all day in Sunday August 9, 2009 at the Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home.
