Eileen May Lehmann was born on September 23, 1922 the daughter of Will Meyer and Minnie Marti Meyer in Bern, Kansas. Eileen graduated from Bern High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to Ruben F. Lehmann on September 30, 1940. He survives. They were blessed to share 69 years together.
Eileen worked as a bookkeeper at Lehmann and Meyer. For over 50 years she worked side by side with her husband and family. She enjoyed the customers and "the boys at the shop" were just like family to her. She was very involved in her community and enjoyed being a part of BPW for many years. She took great pride in her work and enjoyed helping people.
Eileen enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening and she especially enjoyed their cabin at Big Lake and the many good times spent there with friends and neighbors.
Eileen passed away on October 9, 2009 at the age of 87 in Sabetha, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elva Meyer Lehmann. She is survived by her husband, Ruben F. Lehmann; her children, Robert Lehmann, Richard Lehmann and his wife, Candee and Patty Boyce and her husband, Dave and 5 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; brothers, Harlan Meyer and Harry Meyer and many special nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. A visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nemaha County Community Health Services and Meals on Wheels sent in care of the funeral home.
