Erwin Flentie

Mr. Erwin Walter Flentie, 92, of Centralia. passed away Friday, December 29th, 2006 peacefully at Onaga Community Hospital, Onaga, KS
Mr. Flentie was born at Centralia, Kansas on February 21, 1914, the son of the late Alvin Walter and Elsie (Medora) Flentie.
He worked as a farmer and stockman his entire working life. While farming he was employed by the State of Kansas Highway Department from 1952 - 1979. After retirement he worked for Bob Hall Utility Contractors.
He was the husband of Marvena B. (Murphy) Flentie They married August 20, 1936 at Centralia, KS she survives of the home.
He was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ Centralia, KS., Where he had served as a deacon and a trustee.
He is survived by
Daughter: Sandra Houk and her husband Gary of Maple Hill, KS
Son(s): Larry Flentie and his wife Sharon of Ft. Collins, CO., Erwin E. "Corky" Flentie of Wichita, KS.
Sister: Thelma Cross of Centralia, KS.
Brother: Rex Flentie of Centralia, KS.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren
He is preceded in death by a grandson, great granddaughter, and a great-great grandchild and a sister Wilma Roberts.
He is a 60 yr member of the Masonic Lodge #39 AF & AM of Seneca, KS, Kansas York Rite, Topeka Arab Shrine, NE-MAR Shrine Club of Marysville, KS, Eastern Star, formerly of Centralia, KS, and a former member of the Centralia Saddle Club.
Funeral Services were at First Congregational United Church of Christ, Centralia, KS, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 3rd, with Rev. Deanna Lewis officiating. The organist was be Julie Gleason. Casket bearers were Allan Flentie, Matthew Flentie, Mitchel Flentie, Stephen Flentie, Joshua Pease and Wesley Houk. Honorary Casket bearers were Bill Cross, Greg Deters, Dean Luckeroth, Bob Rettele, Terry Smith and Jim VanGilder.
Interment was in Centralia Cemetery Centralia, KS.
Friends were invited to call Tuesday 7:00-8:30 PM at Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home.
