Gary Lee Hartley

Gary Lee Hartley’s spirit left this world on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia. He was 69 years old. 

Gary was born February 16, 1955, to Lawrence and Helen (Halstead) Hartley at Hiawatha, Kansas. He was the third child of seven children. 

Gary served on the Morrill City Council and was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship in Stella, Nebraska.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ivan, Leon, and Roy; and two sisters, Sandra Hartley and Sharon Bestwick.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sandy Hartley, of Morrill, Kansas; his four children from previous marriages, Jason (K.C.) Hartley of Hiawatha, Kansas, Heather (Jeremy) Bestwick of Sabetha, Brett Hartley of Topeka, Kansas, and Ashlee (Wes) Harris of Graham, North Carolina. After Gary’s marriage to Sandy (Beeman) Hartley, he gained two more daughters, Laura Hartley of Topeka, Kansas, and Jennifer (Alex) Luchen of Olathe, Kansas who also survived him. In addition, Gary is survived by his thirteen grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren, and siblings, Betty (Carl) Clements of Kansas City, Kansas, Bob (Peggy) Hartley of Branson, Missouri, and Randy Hartley of Fairview, Kansas.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Bible Fellowship in Stella, Nebraska. Following the service, inurnment will be held at the Morrill Cemetery in Morrill, Kansas, with military honors.
