Glen Robert Stoller was born on March 26, 1929, at home, south of Sabetha, Kansas to Robert Stoller and Martha Imthurn Stoller. He attended Pleasant Hill County School and Sabetha High School where he graduated in 1946.


After graduation, he worked for Arlie Gilbert until being drafted into the Army in April of 1951, where he served as an ambulance driver with the occupational forces in Germany. Glen returned home in April of 1953.


He married Joelline LaVaun Wikle on June 14, 1953 at the Congregational Church in Sabetha, Kansas. They lived a short time in Hiawatha, Kansas where he worked for the Hiawatha World before moving to the Elmer Brown farm south of Sabetha and farming for a few years. They bought an acreage northwest of Sabetha in 1957 when he began working full time for the Sabetha Herald. In 1961, he went to work for the United States Postal Service where he worked for 28 years, retiring in 1989. During those years with the USPS he also owned and operated a vinyl siding business, which he eventually turned over to his son. He continued to do handyman jobs for anyone that needed help around town for many years. After retirement he delivered the Topeka Capital Journal for eight years.


Glen served as clerk, treasurer and on the Board of Trustees for the Congregational Church, where he has been a member since 1943. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #7285 and the American Legion Unit #126. He coached little league baseball from the mid 60's to the early 70's. Glen was one of the founding organizers of Teen Town also in the early 70's. He served on the Nemaha County Red Cross Board, the Cemetery Board, the Alumna Board, two years as President of the Sabetha Chamber of Commerce, 16 years on the USD #441 School Board (eight of those year as president), and was a member of the Sabetha Lions Club. He ran the clock for all varsity and junior varsity sporting events as SHS for close to 40 years. He helped organize and was president of the USD #441 Scholarship Foundation. Glen donated over 16 gallons of blood throughout the course of his life. He spent many of his later years working with the Sabetha branch of the Nemaha County Recycling Center.

Glen is survived by his wife, Joelline of their home in Sabetha; two sons, Bob Stoller and his wife, Sandy of Topeka, Kansas and David Stoller and his wife, Nancy of North Pole, Alaska; one daughter, Sioux Baumgartner and her husband, Delane of Cook, Nebraska and seven grandchildren, Gwen Stoller of Plano, Texas, Amanda Stoller of Santa Barbara, California, Matt Stoller and Mark Stoller both of North Pole, Alaska, Darin Baumgartner, Steven Baumgartner and Delaney Jae Baumgartner all of Cook, Nebraska. Glen is also survived by his sister, Helen Scoby of Sabetha, Kansas; a brother, Wayne Stoller of Falls City, Nebraska and many nieces and nephews.


Glen's parents and his sister, Betty Barrick of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma preceded him in death.


Even in his death Glen kept up his life's mission of helping others by donating his body to the Wills Body program associated with the KU Med Center in Kansas City, Missouri.


Memorial services will be at the NorthRidge Church on Friday, October 3, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. A visitation will be Thursday evening 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Memorial contribution may be sent to the USD #441 Scholarship Foundation sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
