Hazel Mae Sibold

Hazel Mae Sibold, 94, of Sabetha, Kansas passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2023.    

Hazel was born on March 5, 1928, to Emery and Mae (Bentley) Campbell, and she was the oldest of eight children born to this union.  As a child, she attended Woodlawn and Capioma schools. 

On October 31, 1944, Hazel was united in marriage to Harold Sibold in Horton, Kansas.  In 1945, Hazel and Harold purchased a farm south of Sabetha where they raised their six children and three grandchildren.  They moved from the farm into Sabetha in 1982. 

Hazel worked for 26 years for the Brown County Infirmary in Hiawatha, Kansas as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a Certified Medication Aide (CMA).  She also drove the Nemaha County Senior Citizens bus for 20 years.  She was very proud of her country, community, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and all her relatives.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, March 6, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Church of the Brethren, 203 Main Street, in Sabetha.  Prior to the service, a visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church.  The inurnment will be made in the Sabetha Cemetery.  Memorial contributions are suggested to a fund yet to be designated by the family and can be sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
