Jerry Allen

J erry Lee Allen, 79 of Sabetha died Sunday, September 1, 2013 in Topeka, Kansas.  He was born on October 8, 1933 the son of Lynn Allen and Theresa (Newsham) Allen at Oneida, Kansas.  He grew up in the Oneida area and attended and graduated from Oneida High School in 1951.  At the age of 17 he started working at Mid-America Dairy in Sabetha and retired as plant manager in 1996.  He was united in marriage to Barbara Lou King on September 19, 1954 in Oneida, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Vaden Allen and brother-in-law, Kendall Hewitt.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara Allen of Sabetha; children, Ronald Allen (partner, Jorge Cepeda) of Parkville, MO, Joelene Allen of Topeka, Douglas Allen (Amy) of Sabetha and Ole Petter Finess (Jetta) of Fredrikstad, Norway; four grandchildren, Abigail Madden (Luke) of Topeka, Madeline Allen of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Margaret Suther (Mitchell) of Sabetha and Mitch Allen of Topeka; two great grandchildren, Kemri Madden and Liam Suther; siblings, Max Allen (Ethel) of Oneida, Roger Allen (Jean) of Sabetha, Robert Allen of Sabetha, Karen Hewitt of Sabetha, Shirley Allen of Topeka and sister-in-law, Wuanita Allen of Seneca.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sabetha Wesleyan Church.  The interment will be made in the Albany Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sabetha Community Hospital or the City of Sabetha Parks and Rec. sent in care of Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
