Jim Brownlee

Jim D. Brownlee, 80, of Sabetha, died Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Sabetha Manor. Jim was born February 25, 1931 in Sabetha, Kansas, the son of Gale and Elfie (Hunt) Brownlee.
Jim lived in the Woodlawn and Sabetha area all his life and attended Sabetha area schools. Jim was united in marriage to Mildred McFall on August 15, 1954 at the Congregational Church in Sabetha. He enjoyed hunting, sports, fishing, and especially visiting with people. He served as Nemaha County Commissioner for 19 years. He suffered a stroke in 1997.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Brownlee; two brothers, Paul Brownlee and Harry Brownlee.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; son, Steve Brownlee and his wife Selena of Sabetha; daughter, Marcia Given and her husband John of Greenville, South Carolina; six grandchildren; a sister, Maridee Nedham and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Brownlee, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Visitation will be Thursday, August 4, 2011 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are being left to the Sabetha Hospital, or the NorthRidge Church in Sabetha, sent in care of the funeral home, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
