Kermit Foster Lofdahl, Wichita, KS

Kermit Foster Lofdahl was born on January 28, 1922 to Will and Elsie Lofdahl in Vliets, KS. In 1941 he married the love of his life Nina Margueritte Dalsing. During WWII Kermit served as an Air Engineer in England. Kermit was a patient and loving father to two daughters, Virginia and Connie, and a son, Roger. Kermit worked as a service technician for various car dealerships for over 40 years. In 1983 he retired from his position as service manager at OK Transfer. Upon retirement he and his wife Margueritte enjoyed many winters in southern Texas. Kermit led his family on many vacations throughout the United States. He was especially close to his brothers-in-law with whom he shared many life experiences.
As a young man Kermit explored motor vehicles, once breaking his arm winding his Model T. As a married man he enjoyed raising a family, fishing, and enjoying Country Western music. Later in life Kermit enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Over the years, Kermit and Margueritte took in many "adopted" grandchildren to share their love and friendship. Kermit enjoyed reading Louis L'Amor books and watching Western movies. He liked fixing things around the house and mechanics continued to be an avid hobby throughout retirement. Recently, Kermit was blessed to have lived next door to his grandkids and grandpets. This kept him busy and blessed. He and Margueritte shared their 67th wedding anniversary in August.
Kermit was preceded in death by his parents Will & Elsie (Foster) Lofdahl, brother, Donald Lofdahl, and son, Roger.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Margueritte (Dalsing), daughters, Virginia Lee Chandler-Littlejohn and husband Gene and Connie Sue Baum and husband Larry. 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. All of Wichita, Kansas.
Kermit is remembered as man who truly loved and valued his family. He was a friend to many and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 1:00 pm at the Mission Covenant Church southwest of Axtell. Pastor Herb Schrader will conduct the services. Casket bearers are grandchildren, Ty Chandler, Tom Chandler, Melissa Baum, Lucy Baum and Jacque and Casey Waite. Burial will be in the Rosehill Cemetery. There will be a family visitation one hour before service time at the church.
Memorials are being left to the Hospice of Kansas and may be sent in care of the Landreth-Popkess Funeral Home Drawer P Axtell, KS 66403
