Laura Keim

L aura Mae Plattner Keim,85, passed away on Friday evening, September 20, 2013 at the Apostolic Christian Home.  The tenth, and youngest child of Jacob Plattner and Lena (Edelman) Plattner, Laura was born August 15, 1928 in Sabetha, Kansas.  She graduated from 8 ^th grade at Eureka Grade School in 1941, and then worked at Buzz Cafe for four years to earn the money to attend high school.  She graduated from Sabetha High School in 1949.

Laura married Gary L. Keim on September 17, 1949. They are the parents of two children; Carol Spangler (David) and John W. Keim (Joann).  Grandchildren are Shane Spangler, Carissa Keim (Michael), and A1C Gary A. Keim (Melissa). Great-grandchildren include Tate and Elena Ann Marie Keim.

Laura enjoyed learning, and attended Highland Community College as an adult. Nature, bird-watching, reading, music and her family were Laura's special joys in life. Laura loved her farm home, and was an excellent baker and cook. She lived her faith daily, all of her life.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairview United Church of Christ. A visitation will be held Monday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha.  The interment will be made in the Sabetha cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Fairview United Church of Christ in lieu of flowers sent in care of Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
