LaVon Maxon, 87, of Centralia, Kansas passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Eastridge Care Home in Centralia.
LaVon was born on May 18, 1928 in Vermillion, Kansas the
daughter of John H. Hallier and Reva (Junod) Hallier.
She attended school in Centralia, Kansas, where she graduated salutatorian of her class in 1945. She then moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she found employment at Hallmark Cards, and eventually progressed into the insurance industry. She served as Office Manager for many years until she retired in 1993. LaVon attended Nall Hills Baptist Church where she taught adult Bible Classes, as well as having taught children’s classes in earlier times. As one nephew stated she was a loving, caring, compassionate Aunt and she led by example showing what Christianity was to look like.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an older sister, Victoria Hallier, and brother, Otto Hallier. Survivors include her sister, Ellean McDowell of Olathe, Kansas; sister-in-law, Marjorie Hallier of Vermillion Kansas; five nephews, nine great nephews and nieces, as well as a number of great-great nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at
11:00 a.m. at the Havensville Christian Church. Inurnment will be in
the Neuchatel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to
