September 6, 1926 — September 15, 2009

Lola Irene Streit was born on September 6, 1926 the daughter of Herbert Ted Sherrard and Ada Mae Holdren Sherrard in Oneida, Kansas. Lola graduated from Oneida Rural High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Arnold Streit, Jr. on January 6, 1945 in Seneca, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 1, 2004.

Lola enjoyed her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, knitting and attending her sons sporting events and going on vacations with her family.

After high school she taught school for one year where she met Arnold. His father was on the school board when she applied for the job. He happened to be with him at that time and they were introduced to each other. When Arnold first saw her he knew then that was the women he was going to marry. She worked as a waitress at the St. Mary's Cafe for a short time and as a nurse's aide from 1960- 1976 in Sabetha and Holton hospitals.
