Mae B. Wittwer, 94, of Sabetha, formerly of rural Dawson, Nebraska died October 12, 2008 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha.
The daughter of William Brooks and Laura (Trefzer) Brooks, she was born on January 18, 1914 in Barada, Nebraska and later moved with her family to Falls City, Nebraska. She graduated from Falls City High School in 1932 and attended business school in Lincoln, Nebraska. After graduation, she worked in the county attorney's office in Falls City.
Mae married Lyle Wittwer on December 14, 1941 in Falls City and they established their home in rural Dawson, where Mr. Wittwer was a farmer and stock feeder.
She was preceded in death by her husband and sisters, Lucille Brooks and Fern Bradsher. She is survived by three children, Sally Wilhelm and her husband, Roger of Humboldt, Nebraska, Joe Wittwer and his wife, Rose of Dawson, Nebraska and Dee Dee Jones and her husband, Gene of Colorado Springs, Colorado and seven grandchildren, Andy Wilhelm of Carmel, Indiana, Erin O'Brien and her husband, Eoghan of Cork, Ireland, Jared Wittwer, Kristin Burke and her husband, Spencer and Ashley Armstrong and her husband, Jeff all of the Kansas City area, Justin Demerath of Austin, Texas and Allyson Jacoby and her husband Jesse of Denver, Colorado and two great grandchildren.
A private funeral will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in the Wild Rose Cemetery in Dawson, Nebraska. Memorial contributions may be the American Macular Degeneration Foundation or the National Stroke Association sent in care of the Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha.
