ina Mae Gress, 92, of Axtell passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013. She was born on April 2, 1921 in Marysville the daughter of Bill Taylor and Ethel (Stanberry) Taylor. She graduated from Beattie High School in 1939 and married Adelbert Gress on May 9, 1946. They made their home in Axtell during their entire married life. She and Bert enjoyed traveling, fishing, camping, crafts and spending their retirement winters in Southern Texas. Nina Mae always had needlework, cross stitch or quilting projects to enjoy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert in 2003. Nina is survived by two sisters, Cleo Smerchek of Blue Rapids and Betty Fincham of Marysville; three sons, Bill Gress of Wichita, Bob Gress and wife Mary of Wichita and Bruce Gress and wife Poli of Knoxville, TN; and three grandchildren, Amy Canfield, Jack Gress and Perri Gress of Knoxville.
Mass of Christian Burial is Friday, October 25, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Axtell. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Axtell. The interment will be made in the St. Michael’s Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or the American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home, 814 Castle, Seneca, KS 66538.
