Phyllis D. Reynolds, 85, Illinois City, Illinois, formerly of Sabetha, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, Iowa.
Phyllis Darlene Reasy was born in Sabetha, Kansas, on November 2, 1939, to Charles W. Scott and Florence Catherine (Van Dyke) Reasy. She was the youngest of seven children born into the Reasy family.
Phyllis was raised by her mother, Florence, in Oneida, Kansas, where Florence ran the telephone switchboard. During this time, young Phyllis learned the values of responsibility and enterprise. The Oneida days left a lasting impression on her life.
After dial telephones were introduced, Florence opened the Cozy Café in Fairview, Kansas. It was there that Phyllis met John Reynolds who came in for lunch while on leave from the Navy. They eventually married and raised three children on a farm near Illinois City, Illinois.
Phyllis enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved to grow things, create things, and plan new projects. She cherished taking drives, appreciating the many details and beauty the world had to offer. Above all, she loved her Lord Jesus and expressed her faith through both words and deeds.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; an infant son, Joseph; and her six siblings, Charles Reasy, Mary Arden, Alice McClellan, Dorothy Lyon, Robert Reasy, and Lucille Benedict.
Phyllis is survived by her three children, Donald A. (Chéri) Reynolds, Lynn E. (Bruce) Selking, and Mary B. Reynolds; her four grandchildren, Tiffanie (Chad) Gentry, Amber (Kyle Anderson) Arnold, Audrey Selking, and Rosemary (Rahim) Maher; her five great-grandchildren, Damien, Irina, Stella, Lucas, and Ronan; and her numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Milan, Illinois.
