Stanley Lewis Strahm, 85, of Lincoln, Nebraska, formerly of Bern, Kansas, died on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at his home in Lincoln.
Stanley was born on July 17, 1939, in Bern, Kansas to Emil and Grace (Blunier) Strahm. He grew up in the Bern community and graduated from Bern High School in 1957. He began his working career at Bern Lumber Yard.
On October 11, 1964, Stanley married Linda L Kerr. In 1974, they moved to Falls City, Nebraska, where Stanley started his own bricklaying business, and he also owned and operated a backhoe. Later, in 1986, he relocated to Lincoln, Nebraska, where he worked at a lumber yard and continued to take on bricklaying jobs. He eventually became a concrete construction inspector and worked until he fully retired at the age of 80.
Stanley was an exceptional woodworker and had a passion for hunting and fishing. During his younger years, he traveled to many locations, appreciating the beauty of God’s creations. He was always engaged in canning, preserving, or gardening, and he was known for making the most potent horseradish and delicious salsa. Stanley cherished his time with his grandchildren, smiling and chuckling whenever they were around.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda, and his sister, Loretta (Elton) Wiegand.
Stanley is survived by his two children, Amy (Bryce)Wendland and Arlon Strahm; his five grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and his three siblings, Joyce (Dale) Dorsch, Ardena (Jack) Kuenzi, and Wilfred (Verona) Strahm.
A memorial service will be on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
